DJArchitects: Architect/Architectural Designer for Aspen-based Architecture and Interior Design Firm

DJArchitects is a boutique architecture and interior design firm based in Aspen, Colorado, specializing in high-end residential and select commercial projects. Our work blends contemporary design with the natural beauty of the Rocky Mountain landscape, and values creativity, craftsmanship, collaboration, and a deep respect for place.

We are currently interviewing for a full-time architect with five years or more of professional experience and an entry-level architectural designer to join our dynamic team in our Aspen offices.

The ideal candidates are design-driven, detail-oriented, comfortable with client interaction, and eager to contribute to projects from concept through construction. We appreciate candidates who are responsible, have positive, flexible attitudes, will work to solve problems independently and are not afraid to ask questions and tackle tasks as needed.

Job Description:

  • Participate in all phases of architectural design, from schematic concepts to construction administration
  • Develop drawings, models, presentations, and documentation
  • Produce detailed construction documents and coordinate with consultants
  • Support project managers in day-to-day design and technical tasks
  • Assist in site visits, field measurements, and construction observations
  • Collaborate closely within a studio environment to deliver thoughtful, high-quality work

Who we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture or design related-field
  • Five-plus years of professional architectural experience for architect position
  • Strong design sensibility with the ability to communicate ideas clearly
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn design and documentation software (e.g., Revit, ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Knowledge of building codes, construction detailing, and project coordination
  • Experience in high-end residential design is a plus
  • Candidates with licensure or are in active pursuit of licensure are encouraged to apply

  • Ability to keep multiple projects on schedule, knows how to prioritize and keep projects moving with integrity and vision
  • Experience guiding projects of varying scales, scopes, and end use

DJArchitects: Studio Manager for Aspen-based Architecture and Interior Design Firm

DJArchitects, an award-winning architectural design firm, is looking for a Studio Manager to join its team in Aspen. This is a varied role, where you’ll combine front-of-house duties with wider administrative, team and creative support. It’s a great opportunity for someone who is organized, approachable and enjoys making a busy creative workplace run smoothly.

This position is for a candidate who can “get things done” in a fast-paced, spirited and creative architecture and interior design office As Studio Manager, you’ll be the first point of contact for clients and visitors while also assisting principals, project teams and the wider practice behind the scenes. No two days will look the same.

This person is responsible, has a positive, flexible attitude, will work to solve problems independently and is not afraid to ask questions and tackle tasks as needed. The core purpose of this role is to keep DJArchitects running smoothly (operationally, administratively and culturally) so architects and designers can focus on project work.

Job Description

Office Management:

  • Review and approve invoices from subcontractors and vendors and ensure they are paid in a timely manner
  • Manage team growth: tradeshows, conferences and online education, with a commitment to their professional development
  • Develop and implement efficient office procedures and policies to enhance productivity and organization including Paid Time Off policy and procedures; maintain PTO calendar
  • Handle incoming correspondence, mail distribution, package deliveries and phone calls
  • Manage office operations, including maintaining supplies and third-party cleaning services.
  • Coordinate with building management to ensure the office is clean, functional, safe and secure – work with principals to oversee any repairs within office
  • Maintain awareness of shared conference room usage, organizing occupancy when necessary
  • Manage and coordinate office wide functions and events – including client meetings, weekly team meetings, occasional Lunch and Learns, team building activities, holidays, birthday celebrations and annual events
  • Liaison for marketing team, occasionally taking photo or sending information for social media
  • Liaison for third-party IT vendor, ensuring software and technology systems are running efficiently including working with professionals who support large format printers, copiers, computers etc.

Interior Design:

  • Assist interior design process including schematic design/mood boards and development
  • Assist in organizing presentation materials
  • Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain required information/samples to advance design and documentation
  • Execute purchasing orders, preparing Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FFE) packages, including documentation and specifications
  • Plan and execute material schedules
  • Maintain interior design sample library – organize, store, maintain and order samples

Administrative & Executive Support

  • Support three principal architects and project managers
  • Help to prepare for meetings and presentations with scheduling, materials and hospitality.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, Greet clients and visitors; maintain a polished, welcoming studio environment.
  • Coordinate courier services, deliveries, and sample shipments.
  • Help prepare client packets, printed sets, and presentation boards
  • Process invoices, expense reports and vendor payments.
  • Maintain employee handbooks, health insurance and office policies.
  • Track PTO, holidays, and staffing schedules.
  • Manage software subscriptions (Adobe, CAD/BIM tools, project management platforms).

Who we’re looking for:

– Someone with a friendly and flexible attitude and clear, confident communication skills (written and verbal) who is a proactive thinker, resourceful approach

– 3-4 years’ experience in a professional role

– Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detailand the confidence to manage multiple tasks

– Values collaboration and creative flow

– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, GoogleWorkspace, familiarity with Quickbooks, (InDesign a bonus)

– Comfort with fastmoving deadlines and shifting priorities

– Previous experience in a creative or architectural environment is a bonus but not required

Hours: Part time (20-25 hours a week). Three days in Aspen office preferred with flexibility for at-home work as needed. $40 per hour.
