Project Details
The design of this Woody Creek Canyon residence was dictated by its dramatic natural surroundings. Positioned between the riparian zone of the river and the surrounding windswept sage and rabbitbrush fields, the two-level design evokes the experience of being nestled against the river, exposed to the open prairie and in a dramatic mountain valley all at the same time. Square-cut, dry-stacked limestone; Spanish cedar siding; zinc roofing; and anodized aluminum windows were used on the exterior. Interior materials such as bamboo and cherry capture the warmth from sunlight during daylight hours and keep the indoor environment warm well into the cool evening and night.
